Back in the days of Louis XIV, only the highest grade of soap made from olive oil in and around the Marseille area in France deserved to be called Savon de Marseille. More than 300 years later, this absolute classic still exudes an air of regality with its romantic French name.
Traditionally, olive oil soap was made by mixing sea water from the Mediterranean Sea, olive oil and the alkaline chemicals, soda ash (sodium carbonate) and lye (sodium hydroxide), together in a large cauldron. The entire process was tedious, time-consuming and could take one to two months before the soap could be ready.

Using a combination of extra virgin olive oil and refined olive oil, we have concocted the perfect formula that people of the past had used to pamper and soothe their skin.
