Why Handmade Soaps? It is that most intimate moment, that short time alone when we indulge our minds in serene solitude and treat the body to a refreshing and rejuvenating wash as we reach for that humble soap to scrub away the day’s dirt and grime. Nothing seems wrong with this picture, except for the fact that you could be scrubbing synthetic detergents into your skin if you are relying on off-the-shelf soap bars. At such moments, handmade soap is the best way to pamper and revitalize our skin. Gentler, silkier and softer than any commercial soap bar, handmade soap contains no harmful chemical additives, artificial preservatives, petroleum by-products or harsh detergents that could irritate the skin and leave it dry and damaged. Thanks to the Traditional Cold Process method, where solid botanical fats are gently heated into their liquid states, poured into molds, cut into bars and allowed to stand for 6 weeks at least to lock in all the wholesome properties, Angkor Soaps® are truly soaps in their pure form and contain moisture-rich glycerin which is soft and gentle on the skin, pampering and rejuvenating it to reveal a wholesome new you. What’s so special about glycerine? In this dry climate, tapping on glycerine is the best way to lock in skin’s moisture.
Glycerine is a natural by-product created in ample amounts during saponification, which is a chemical reaction where oils or fats are mixed with alkali and water to form soap. Unlike commercial soaps, however, where the glycerin is removed to sell to cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies, the moisturizing glycerin and the rich nutrients which prevent the skin from drying and keep it supple remain intact in handmade soap. A handmade soap with ample glycerin produces rich creamy lather which cleanses and moisturizes the skin, leaving it soft and smooth and allowing the skin to breathe naturally. There is a good way to check if your handmade soap is high in glycerine contents. Just dent the surface of the soap with your finger. If the surface becomes wet with small beads of moisture condensing on it, what you are holding in your hands is indeed naturally softer and fresher soap. To extend its lifespan, simply place it in a soap dish that has all the excess water drained. Keep unused soap in a cool, dark and dry place.
Handmade from Nature, for Nature As Angkor Soaps® is totally natural, the suds biodegrade within 24 hours once they are washed off with water. Environmentally friendly, it does not contaminate our precious rivers and ocean, leaving us to enjoy the beauty of Nature in its most pristine state and reminding us that we should only take from Mother Earth the wholesome therapies that she generously offers. |
